TWENTY FOUR MALE BISEXUAL SPECIAL BOARD 1. VOID RESEARCHER RESEARCH | QUINN, TOBIAS I. Tobias is and always has been a professional his whole life, although young he shows much promise within the research board as he is eager to prove his worth. What started as a bed time story has developed into his lust for knowledge, wasters and the void have always fascinated him but now there might be a solution to many problems if he can piece together the scattered bread crumbs. It is his interest to continue to look for answers no matter what consequences they yield as greed is the downfall of knowledge. The once innocent boy is feeling the pressure that his position has placed on him on top of the new potential threat which is a constant concern. On a personal level he yearns to go out there, killing the wasters and potentials that have killed hundreds of innocent lives but is confined to his research lab for the advancement of knowledge. Even his once perfect career is threatening to drown him as he is continuing his fathers work but can't help to think he was leaving something out of his findings. Tobias is in an interesting place as he is at the heart of what could be the answers but is on the cusp of making discoveries to help not only his sector but the populous of the biome. I would like to see where politics bully him because there will hopefully come a point where important experiments become hushed or unbelievable findings are hidden from not only the general public but from people of power. His passion for revenge can take him in an array of directions but it is also his composure that tethers him to the disciplined man he thinks she is. I look forward to Tobias being pushed like never before because I hope to explore his breaking point and see if he can recover; see if he will silently obey or rebel. IMPATIENT Tobias has spent his whole life working under someone in situations of pressure. He has learned to be curt and brusque and therefore expects those around him to be just as straightforward. He has little time for pleasantries which can lead him to appear rude. His intentions are not meant to be taken in such a way, in actuality he doesn't concern himself with other peoples feelings. In general, Tobias' impatience is due to his professionalism because he is expected to constantly produce results in his lab; Tobias can't help but apply the skills he has picked up at work to his every day life. Proficiency is not simply precision but accuracy and of course they must be completed in a timely manner. He doesn't view himself as impatient, he views everyone else far too enduring. DETERMINED He has always been ambitious throughout his life, although quite young Tobias has earned his place because of his determination. He has always had discipline to help him follow through with goals, from hours of reading through his fathers early work to taking the extra steps during experiments to ensure accurate results. His determination drives him to success, without it he would be no where in life. Tobias tends to be single minded, he knows focusing on one task at hand will yield better results. He is not afraid to centre his whole self to one task until it is completed to his satisfaction, his determination has yet to wither after years of it driving him to perfection and success. OBSERVANT A majority of his life Tobias has been a researcher for the Alpha Sector, starting from a lab assistant in university all the way to lead void researcher. He has spent years researching alongside metaphysicians and geneticists which eventually lead him to his work on the void. In his field of work it requires him to be very observant or else his results are not accurate. Especially over the past four years when he started to explore the connection between void knowledge and genetic alterations of the individuals subject to the void. From human experimentation to simple observational studies he is a rather well rounded researcher. Although ethically questionable, Tobias has made a career based on observing reactions to different stimuli, like everything else in his life there is a very thin line between his work and his life. His life revolves around work which is why his perceptive qualities never really stop functioning upon leaving the lab. Although he tends not to vocalize his observations he is much more comfortable voicing his observations where no one else can hear them. IMPARTIAL Over the years he has grown to be candid without prejudice to 'sides'. He understands how people can be blinded with such temptations but he has trained himself to be just, he is the first person to identify a bias and try to fix it. He doesn't mean to come off as arrogant but regardless he can sometimes appear very authoritative when confronting individuals. It is partly because he is too responsible to allow an individual's paradigm influence laboratory data but at the end of the day he knows it is the 'right' thing to do. He isn't comfortable with the concept of right and wrong due to his human experimentation past causing him to try and grasp at a different view point of right and wrong. His impartiality is largely based in justice, it isn't always the right decision that should be followed through but the most reasonable. DETACHED Tobias has an emotional threshold, he is constantly monitoring his emotions in front of other people and even when he is by himself he avoids how feelings. He has trouble making emotional connections because of this disconnection from his emotions. This threshold can only contain so much before it boils over causing some kind of reaction. Tobias tends to dismiss strong emotions and personal issues until they come back to haunt him months later when his emotions boil over. This being said he can usually tell when this explosion is going to happen and has never broken down in front of anyone because his composure is impeccable. As a whole his emotions are under constant control, things that anger him yield a passive response. Growing up people would try and get reactions from him but now people think there is just something wrong with his social interactions because he can be quiet cold. GLIMPSE 60 DAYS AGO - NEW LEAD RESEARCHER Tobias cleared his throat slightly, the sound breaking the silence that was stretching across the lab. He looked down at his colleges, the look of sorrow plastered across their expressions, the last couple days had been brutal for everyone - Tobias was no exception. He somehow knew he should have talked his parents out of going into the void, along with many other researchers. He sighed slightly, the sound rung heavily in the room. He knew he couldn't have helped his parents, he would come to accept that fact at a later date but for right now he was a new glimmer of hope. All eyes were on their new lead researcher; his father would no longer would pace around the laboratory. Tobias could see that they no longer viewed him as an intellectual as they did just days before today, he was now some kind of untouchable being in their eyes. The badge on his left breast somehow making him larger than life, one simple incident causing his life to fall apart. He was alone, this whole branch of the special board was on his shoulders. His voice seemed to echo through his very body as he spoke. "There is no denying the tragedy that has touched our very being, not one of us stands alone in this troubled time." His expression hardened slightly, this is how is would be from now on. He would have to lie, he would give false hope in the upcoming onslaught. Everyday he would feel more and more alone as he encouraged the pursuit of science. "The loss of my father, Doctor Quinn, is still very fresh but it is in times of sorrow that people band together for a common goal." He couldn't remember how many times he stood before the mirror rehearsing the speech, his first attempt had resulted in him trembling uncontrollably. It goes to prove what he was made of, he would make it through, everything he had worked for was at risk. He looked around the room at the brilliant scientists that surrounded him. His words rung loud and clear, his confidence growing as his strength seemed to recollect. He had worked his whole life for this moment, this was his moment to prove his worth. "We have all suffered a preponderance loss. The past is on the fringes our our reach and our colleague would not have slowed their pursuit of knowledge." Tobias bowed his head ever so slightly. He could feel the words being absorbed, his badge somehow making them have a new weight that he had not possessed days before. 98 DAYS AGO - HUMAN EXPERIMENTATION "Doctor, the woman is completely under." Tobias did nothing but nod, his mouth dry as he could almost feel his guilt trying to claw its way out. The woman on the operating table was pale, there was no denying that her skin tone contrasted the blue veins that pulsated just underneath the surface. The woman had long black hair that cascaded over the edges of the operating table, a pale cyan coloured cloth covered a majority of her body. Tobias didn't want to think about where the body came from, he could see the disgust as his thoughts were reflected on the faces of his fellow researchers. Tobias glanced away from their faces to look at the girl, the new theory of potentials had to be tested, even if it was on the body of a girl. Tobias could feel the disgust was turning into fear, he couldn't put words to the emotions in the room. They were monsters, there was no denying what they were going to do to the girl who looked no more than nineteen; all in the name of science. Tobias wasted no more time in his self doubt, he was in no place to question the authority of his superiors. He attached the electrode to her heart, the physical aspect of the trinity. This initial action reminding his colleagues they had a job to do, it was not the highlight of their jobs but would steal provide answers. Another pair of hands started to attach electrodes to the girls temples. Tobias ran through the procedure in his mind as he lowered the cloth so he could extend the strap that would hold her down. Arms continued to move over the body as preparations were put in place. In a matter of minutes the girl was strapped down to the table with a variety of wires connecting to her body. A couple monitors beeped absently as different readings were recorded. Tobias wasted no time on looking at the brain activity readings. "Confirmed diagnosis of the pre frontal cortex. As hypothesized the abnormal activity is still active as her bodily functions are impaired. Continue procedures to test the new hoste theory doctor Quinn?" Tobias' voice never faltered, he wanted his father to stop the procedure but he knew it wasn't an option at this point. Why couldn't the girl be normal, the girl was extraordinary but would suffer because of it. The nod from his father made Tobias cringe on the inside. He knew the girl could still hear them, even in her decreased state of consciousness she knew the girl possessed abilities of a potential. This wasn't the first time this procedure had been operated in this room, hopefully this time the results would not harm the girl and yield results so a repeat procedure wasn't necessary. Tobias tried to think positive thoughts for the girls sake. A lobotomy was never truly safe, especially if the patient's brain is still active. Tobias picked up the scalpel and got into place, his right arm flexing slightly as he prepared for the surgery. He would have to isolate the part of the brain that was still triggering the sensory response. Tobias glanced upward to see the other researchers looking at him with baited breath. "Commencing extraction of the telekinetic ability of adolescent potential, specimen twelve." Tobias slowly lowered the scalpel, willing himself not to look at the brain scan to reveal the flair of brain activity. The girls body started to spasm as the blade touched the surface of the skin and drew the first drops of blood. The crimson liquid spilled down the side of her head, her black hair absorbing the blood. Hopefully this experiment would prove successful, the examination of the telekinetic brain would prove valuable in order to fully analyze its magical properties and pin point its correlation to the potentials. 4 YEARS AGO - POLITICAL PRESSURE Tobias tapped his pen, it wasn't the fact that he felt insignificant, he just felt that no one was hearing his words. He knew each researcher was just as smart as he was, he would be a fool not to know that. They all possessed PhD's of some kind and all had something different to bring to the team. Tobias continued to tap his pen against the white table, the noise easily muffled out by the rather heated debate. Although the current topic was about waster religion and its magical qualities it had quickly shifted to the mis-handing of the relics that eventually were brought to their labs from the deeper regions of the void. Tobias knew it was an important topic but he also knew this debate would get them nowhere, his father was suppose to be putting an end to this discussion. Researchers were not at liberty to discuss such political matters in a work setting. Tobias blinked as he slowly filtered through everyone's comments. He knew where he stood, he agreed with the main areas of conflict but kept his mouth firmly shut. The Alpha Sector should not remain as dependant on the other sectors, the city council already guided their political influence enough as it was. Alpha also was self sustaining enough to be independent. He hated politics, they were an unnecessary form of oppression. He knew he wanted to go into the void to unearth the relics himself that awaited to be discovered and not sit and talk about city guards breaking them. Once day this sector would not rely on the Purge board or Arms board to escort them in the void, just not any time soon. He smiled slightly despite the heated debate around him. He had already been pistol trained earlier that year, his father didn't know he had already been appointed to partake as the void specialist on the mission next week. He knew he would get enraged with him and try to talk him out of going but he needed this experience. He was twenty, it was time for him to get field training, he didn't want to spend his whole life in the lab. He loved the laboratory but he wanted to get out there and actually make a discovery and actually make a difference. He knew it was dangerous, he was scared. He had to do it, he wanted to feel the pistol kick back if it meant he was protecting himself. He was not as delicate as everyone thought he was. He was not just a researcher, upon going into the special board a year ago he knew he wanted to make a difference. "I would like to remind you all that the purpose of this meeting was to discuss the most recent relic, regardless of the condition we received it in; it still plays a viable piece in our research." His voice was sharp, he hadn't raised his voice but people had reacted like he had. His colleagues flinched at his tone, Tobias knew they wanted to say more but upon glancing at the lead researcher of the branch they chose against it. Smart choice. 15 YEARS AGO - KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR Tobias pulling the shirt over his head as he excitedly told his mother of his adventures at school, his mother watching in the mirror. "Then Professor McGill spent the rest of class explaining how he had simply cowered behind the squadron escort!" Tobias laughed as he finished his story, his mom not finding the story as interesting as Tobias had. Tobias felt his smile quiver slightly before clearing his throat and focusing back on getting dressed. His mother had always been on his case to pull out his clothes so she could have ironed them but he couldn't be bother to plan ahead as any 5 year old would. Tobias bit his lip as he fastened the buttons in place, He had missed a couple buttons as the shirt sat askew on his thin frame. His mother approached him and gently started to fasten them properly. Tobias knew his mother wasn't happy with him, she never was anymore. He knew that whenever they had company over his mother got a little tense. Apparently their guest was very important judging how his mother hadn't even pretended to listen to the story about his anthropology teachers first mission as an archaeologist. "Toby, now is not the time to try and waste your time with stories of that meaningless magnitude. The director is coming over for dinner tonight and I expect you to be on your best behaviour. Understood?" Tobias opened his mouth to answer but his mother was already walking away. Her back was reflected in the mirror at Tobias, her mothers strides taking her farther and farther away. He looked at his own reflection, he knew he looked the part but would he ever be the part? He looked like a knight, he didn't know why but he felt strong and handsome. He knew she shouldn't be vain, his common sense told him he should help his mom prepare dinner but instead he stole a couple more seconds in front of the mirror. He thought of the Wasters that his father told him about, maybe one day he would get to meet one and slay it in the name of the sector. Tobias figured that they were scary, maybe Tobias would be a super smart scientist one day and make a big discovery and all the wasters would fear him. Tobias flinched when he heard his name being yelled by his mom. He cursed under his breath, something he wasn't suppose to do because it wasn't what a young gentleman should do. He smiled slightly knowing he had broken one of mothers many rules. He stole one last glance at his reflection before quickly running to the kitchen to help his mom. MADE BY KIROUKO OF GANGNAM-STYLE |
