"Calmness is the cradle of power." -Josiah Gilbert Holland
0845 08MAR GAMMA DISTRICT THREE LIONS PUB
When it was this deep in the winter, many people in Gamma District were lucky to wake up not feeling like they weren't about to die. It was cold in these parts. People didn't have the greatest clothes, much less the greatest houses. The few decent establishments in this sector did what they could to keep things cozy for their varied clientele. Some had stoves. Others had fires. Three Lions Pub, in particular, had a some run down space heaters they put sporadically throughout the place. It wasn't exactly a dingy bar, but there weren't any rich folk coming this way. It wasn't well known. The only people that came here were those on their way home from work at the end of a long day.
It's lackluster qualities made it a pretty good place for anyone who felt like they just needed to get away. No one would come looking for them here. If Roy Grey were on the run, he really wouldn't mind using this place at all. Who would ever think to check here, in one of the most boring bars in all of Gamma Sector? On second thought, he wouldn't use this place. He would look here. He was seasoned. He knew where people trying to stay off the grid went. The best way to make sure no one ever notices you is to hide in plain sight.
When Roy felt the unusual chill in the pub, he smirked. He had been rather patient when hunting this girl. He didn't want to scare the poor thing- if she knew that he was coming for her, she would prepare herself. Yasmin would be trying to lay traps for him. This particular target had an increasing number of violent encounters ever since her discovery. She didn't trust people, and she most certainly didn't have qualms with ensuring that no one knew her whereabouts. Break few bones? Knock some innocents out? Sure, why not? There had been a lot of stories about her violence. He would have to settle this quietly.
The hitman made his way to the cellar with little reservation in his heart. The doors opened to a rather large cold space. It was a pretty good place to hide for someone who couldn't stop radiating their blasted ice magic. Wine cellars were meant to be cold. Who would notice? A professional. That's who. However, the girl had at least been smart enough to put herself in a position that wouldn't expose her location as soon as someone came down there. She was most likely located near a corner, or even behind the staircase. As soon as Roy went down, the light would no doubt expose his presence. Cornered prey is always the most desperate.
It was unlikely, however, that she would attack immediately. Yasmin had not been documented to be a person for unnecessary violence.
"Jerry! Where the hell are you? I told you to bring some more red up twenty minutes ago!" Roy called out to the darkness. He walked down the stairs with the collar on his trenchcoat popped up so that his prey would be sure of her invisibility. The pistol in his right hand was hidden nicely within the confines of his baggy clothing. The safety was off, and Roy was on the alert. If she made any sudden movements, he would hear. He wasn't going to make a sound as he strolled off into the darkness.

COLD BLOOD Yasmin held her breath as she heard someone enter where she had spent the night. She had spent the last three nights hiding within the cellar as it helped mask her abilities. She knew she had to hone her skills better or she would not make it to see her own freedom. A sad smile played across her face, she had given up everything since becoming a potential. It was out of her control but she had to move forward, it was her only hope at survival. With a grimace she summoned her only comrade. Within her grasp an ICE DAGGER formed. She held her position, she had the advantage if this man was truly seeking her. She looked at him from her vantage point. It was as her muscles flexed in anticipation that he recognized this man. She did not truly know his name but she knew what he did. He moved with a grace that gave him away. He was smart but she was far smarter. Years of training had made her smart. The cold rippled from the dagger but she held her position. This man was up to something but she was still safe from his eyes. He had not noticed her very well hid position.
She would wait. She had the power of ice and this man had killed too many to truly let his blood run cold so soon. This killer would either move on or wait for her icy grip to strike him down.
NOTE: Yasmin's location is still unknown within the cellar.

"The general who wins the battle makes many calculations in his temple before the battle is fought." - Sun Tzu
0847 08MARGAMMA DISTRICTTHREE LIONS PUB - WINE CELLAR
Yasmin managed to keep her calm upon Roy's initial entrance. His prediction had been correct. She wasn't going to fight if she didn't have to. The poor girl had not yet learned that seizing the initiative in an encounter was a brilliant way to ensure that your opponents were left on the losing side. Oh well. He didn't blame her. It did take something fervently wrong in someone's head to make them think they always had to attack anyone who might pose any kind of a threat? A person with that kind of mindset was cold and ruthless, and barely even human by some standards. The agent smirked again. It wouldn't of been the first time he had been called a monster.
"Jerry! Jerrrryyyyy!" He called out enthusiastically as he spun around the room. Roy kept his movement steady and clear of any hesitation. Though it would have been nice to spot his target directly, it really didn't matter one way or the other. He wasn't looking for her. He didn't even care if she knew his real purpose down here. The potential was most likely cognizant that people like him were sent to kill people like her, and they were made to do it efficiently. It was a miracle she had gotten away the first time. Rumor had it that a squadron member had tried to take her on- the only way an untrained potential could have done that so easily was if she had some sort of previous experience. Her records of violence also pointed toward some kind of understanding of close-range combat.
It wouldn't of been the first time an operative had been compromised. Roy didn't specialize in exchanging blows, and he certainly didn't intend to try his luck against a former agent. After his quick little twirl, he went right back up the stairs. "Oh Jerry, you lazy-ass bum. When you get done sleepin', why don't you actually do what the bossman wants, eh?"
His assumptions about the cellar had been correct. Three Lions Pub kept their wine cellar accessible from only one entrance- the one he just came out of. There were no windows down there. There were no doors. The only way out of the cellar was to come out of the entry point. The hitman walked out of the corridor backwards, shutting the door behind him. She would come out of there eventually if she didn't want to starve.
And he would be waiting with his gun pointed right at her.

COLD BLOOD "FROZEN VEINS".
The frost like armour climbed up her arms. The temperature in the room dropped as she slunk out from behind a barrel containing some kind of booze. Her lithe form didn't even wait until the door was closed behind the man to spring into action. She bit her lip as the frost covered her body, she was strong. This man wanted her head, she knew him but he didn't matter. She didn't know his name but his face was more than enough. He was a killer. Yasmin had killed people before but she doubted he knew that. No one knew. She was alone. This man tempted her, fine. His funeral.
She had nowhere to go. She could have waited him out, she had supplies within the cellar but no. She was no caged animal. She was strong and this man was not going to put her in a corner. Yasmin only attacked when provoked, the woman from a couple days before hadn't even attacked her truly but yet she had attacked because she had been threatened. This man did not hide anything and Yasmin would rise to the challenge. She would hide nothing then. He would see her full power. The dagger she carried continued to grow until it became a spear. This man would die if he did not back down. The squadron member had not seen her full power. This man might if he was as stupid as he was acting.
She easily kicked down the door but it didn't stop there. She had no time, she knew what would come. Everyone with combat training were so boring now a days. She threw the spear before the doors could even fully open. They always expected the lunge for higher ground. Instead she nimbly jumped backward down the stairs. She swung her body behind the stairway as her next weapon formed. He threatened her but would not rise to meet him on his turf. If he wanted to challenge her he would be man enough to face her in the cellar. She had quite the cold snap growing and he would suffer for his stupidity. OOC CRYOKENISIS - adept, offensive Yasmin is able to manipulate and create ice. This manifests in the form of icicles that are variable in length so far. She is able to use this ability offensively. Anyone struck with an ice spear suffers -1 DEX and -1 SPD. The modifiers will vanish once Yasmin or the opponent leaves the thread. There is no cool down for this ability.
FROZEN VEINS - adept, defensive, passive Yasmin has the ability to encase her body in a a frost like armour that can cover any two body parts at a given time. The frost grants the user +2 to STR, DEX, +1 to POW and x1.5 to SPD as well as unknown modifiers to PER, and RES. Upon contact with an enemy a thin layer of frost will cause them to have a modifier of -1 applied to all of their physical stats causing them to grow weaker every other post as long as the frost remains on their body. If their CON reaches 0, that character has a 50% chance of death that must be checked before every one of their posts. The frost and modifiers will vanish once Yasmin or the opponent leaves the thread.

"Be extremely subtle, even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious, even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of the opponent's fate." -Sun Tzu
0848 08MAR GAMMA DISTRICT THREE LIONS PUB - CORRIDOR
The ice spear came right down the center of the passageway. It wasn't meant to stun. It was meant to kill. Yasmin wasn't trying to save herself- she was trying to be the aggressor. She felt confident enough in her combat training to take on someone she recognized as an experienced assassin. While Roy certainly wasn't famous to any real degree, he was known among the special operations community for his consistent successes in missions. The only way for this girl to have been aware of him was to have, at some point, interacted at length within Delta Sector.
He ducked around the corner at the end of the corridor with enough ease that the ice spear hit an unfortunate soul in the common area. Chaos erupted as people fled the scene. Though Roy would've liked having a few hostages to draw his prey out, he was instructed to at least try and avoid civilian causalities. However, any operative would know to disregard anything that would put their chances of success in jeopardy. Even if he did start throwing dead bodies down the stairwell, she wouldn't really care. Hell, she might just freeze them to keep the stench away.
The aforementioned reasoning also convinced the agent to not approach the cellar. He knew for a fact that even though they were on equal grounds when it came to the accuracy of their maneuvers, she was a tad bit faster than him. He didn't know what other abilities she had; being able to conjure ice out of thin air, however, was not doing Roy any favors. The assassin didn't need to see her to kill her, though.
Reaching into the slot of his belt right next to his magazines, Roy pulled out a vial filled with white powder. Within the vial was 50mg of Botulinium Toxin Type A- the most deadly acute poison known to humankind. Most operatives were trained to kill using direct combat tactics. Get the jump on the enemy. Exchange fire. Gain the tactical advantage by keeping the battle on your playing field. Very few were known to compromise an entire area to get rid of one target. Roy didn't care about additional causalities, though. He would kill everyone in the entire pub if he had to.
The vial soared into the air above the stairwell before exploding into a white haze. Roy fired five shots to ensure that the vial was hit and to provide cover fire in case she decided to try anything again. It took around 1.3 x 10^-4 mg of Botulinium to kill a full grown human. Roy had just put 38,000 that amount into the air. If Yasmin so much as inhaled once, she would have already gone far over the dose needed to kill.
Roy pulled his scarf tight around his mouth and nose. He kept his cover around the corridor, poking his head out to keep an eye on the situation. What else did this little bitch have up her sleeve?

QUEST THREAD 02 WATER AFFINITY
09 STR 08 DEX
05 CON 09 SPD ?? PER 05 SRC 05 POW ?? RES |
COLD BLOOD Yasmin took a deep breath. She had just landed on the cellar floor and her instincts were taking over. She had the power of water and this man was still tempting fate, clearly his instincts were to be an idiot. Normally she would try the manoeuvre she had just performed again, the ice she conjured was unlimited to her but she had another plan up her sleeve. If he would not fight her like a man and she was not stupid enough to seek him on his terms, than she would do what she always did. She was no caged animal, she could fight but she would run. The reason she was still alive to fight back was not because she was reckless. She ran when she could. She already had a target on her back, she didn't need to go putting a larger one there. This man wanted her dead, well he was sadly out of luck today. It had been a moment since her last stunt. Not wasting any more time she flipped her body onto the stairs in an act of true grace. The woman landed on her feet and she was sprinting in another moment. She saw a vial of something fly past her but she didn't hesitate. If the canister was aimed at her he had missed. She didn't want to get caught up in technicalities at the present moment. All she knew was the man was in her sights and she would win. She could have killed him, right then and there but she might risk dying herself.
The man brought his gun up as he also brought up a scarf to his face. He was going to smoke her out apparently but she was already out of the cellar and into the hallway. She bitterly congratulated him mentally for thinking too slowly on how to be a cheap ass. If she had waited another couple seconds to spring into action she would be caught in whatever he was bringing his gun up to shoot. The canister was already far behind her as she sprinted. The cellar was also too far to retreat to and she was facing a man drawing a weapon. Do or die. What was she going to do? Fuck. Fuck. He was in her way, she had to act, she had to run right by him which would never happen cause he was hellbent on being a pompous asshole. Fine. She would meet him on a level he might understand. She yelled at the top of her lungs, her frost covered body shimmering for just a second as she called upon the affinity of water to help her. She needed to be strong. She was better than him in almost every way, he was not as prepared as he thought he was. The power of water yielded for no one but her.
"FLASH FREEZE"
The frost from her body almost instantly sprung away in a twenty foot radius. She didn't notice any innocents in the mix but she wasn't paying anyone much attention, he was in for a treat though. Power surged through her body as she used the ability. The cold that always threatened to release from her control sprung outward in a radiant cascade of power. The slight chill dropped to a supernatural cold, frost covered everything in the passing moments. The wood creaking under her elemental presence as the very world seemed to cry. She felt alive as the power flowed out of her body, it was a glorified surge of her power but it still got the job done. She always fought to keep the power within but she allowed it to truly attack the world that always attacked her. She was a conduit to so much more in that given moment. It was maybe a total of ten seconds after she had used the ability she was left surrounded with a frosty prison. The frost glimmered with some unseen light. Her eyes had gone white, the iris fading as her pupil slowly looked at the assasin that had tried to kill her. A bullet was frozen before it was shot. He had lost.
She knew he would not stay immobilized for long but the thin layering of frost still covered his body. The very air tried to sting her face but the cold never bothered her anyway. With a slight smile she bowed in front of him in an act that made Yasmin feel better. With that she slowly walked out of the pub, by the time he could move again she would be gone. She had won this fight. One of many to come.
[exit] OOC CRYOKENISIS - adept, offensive Yasmin is able to manipulate and create ice. This manifests in the form of icicles that are variable in length so far. FLASH FREEZE - adept, defensive, offensive. The temperature around Yasmin in a 20 foot radius drops substantially to a cold no one has ever felt before. Opponents who are struck with this attack must make a stat check (RG), of their RES vs. the POW of 3 (Power of this attack). If the stat check is not met the opponent will become immobile for one whole post. This post of theirs they may not perform any true action involving movement such as talking, breathing or running. The effects of this ability cause frost to cover anything within this radius but there are no stat penalties nor is this ability deadly. Yasmin may only use this ability once per thread.
